Pupil premium is funding which is additional to the main school budget. The grant is allocated in three parts: pupil premium for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals in any of the previous six years, looked after children and those from families with parents in the Armed Forces.
The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and raise attainment. It is for individual schools to decide how the Pupil Premium funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess the provision needed for individual pupils within their responsibility. However we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support the pupils for whom we receive funding.
The funding outlined above is used to address a range of barriers to learning, including emotional needs, development of learning behaviours, speech and language support and offering a range of activities to broaden children’s experiences.
We aim to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils and that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups to ensure that they have full access to all areas of the curriculum and enrichment activities.
Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time, but as and when it is necessary to maximise the outcomes for these pupils.
OUR PRIORITIES
- To narrow the gap for those pupils not on track to achieve age related expectations in each year group.
- To ensure that the emotional needs of children are met and addressed.
- To ensure that all children have the same access to everything we offer in school.
- To ensure that we support and engage parents in their children’s education and school life.

REPORTING
It will be the responsibility of the headteacher to produce regular reports for the Governing Body. This will include the following information:
- the progress made towards narrowing the gap for pupils.
- an outline of the provision that has been made.
- An evaluation of the cost effectiveness, in terms of the progress made by pupils receiving a particular provision, when compared with other forms of support.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
- Early intervention and support for Pupil Premium pupils.
- The vast majority of Pupil Premium pupils will meet their individual targets.
- Effective parental-pupil school support.
- Having an effective system for identifying, assessing and monitoring pupils.
- Having a whole school consistent approach.
- Create a positive school atmosphere in which pupils’ differences are recognised and valued as full members of the school community; developing confident and independent learners.
PUPIL PREMIUM ALLOCATION
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low income families. From September 2012 we are required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support that they receive.
In 2013/14 we received £18,000. This money was spent on providing a Catholic Care worker, increasing support staff and the provision of Breakfast Club interventions throughout the year.
In 2014/15 we received £39,500. This money was spent on employing an extra member of support staff, Catholic Care support, a non- class based Deputy Headteacher, Learning Mentor provision as well as subsidised school visits

Impact of Pupil Premium
At the end of KS2 our pupils make good progress both academically, socially and emotionally due to our use of the Pupil Premium.
